This event discusses the support offered by architectural practices for the mental and physical health of women architects. It offers a forum to discuss the health experiences women architects have “in common” and which have previously not been embedded into architectural workplaces.
This event will touch upon the online response of the recent social media content posted by the ‘MIPIM Lads’ Twitter account that highlights gender biases and the subsequent article in The Architects’ Journal. We ask: Is the MIPIM Lads Twitter account a real representation of the state of affairs of our industry events today or is it a gross exaggeration of male values in the industry for comedic effect?
In 2023, WIA UK will focus on a series of events that showcase differences, biases and challenges faced by Architect parents.
WIA would like to invite you to informal social events to connect with other women in architecture. A few WIA members have kickstarted this initiative. They hope it becomes a regular casual meetup in a familiar location, where women in the industry can connect with others without expectations or big admin.
